Figma Project: Curriculum Planning and Documentation App
The design of this project was inspired by efficiency. The current process for curriculum planning and documentation isn’t as streamlined as it could be and with all the responsibilities that educators have I wanted to come up with a design that promoted the consideration of time and also accessibility.
The aesthetic of the app is influenced by the center’s over arching mission of being nature-based but I wanted to pick tones that were dark and warm.
The functionality of the app is simple but I have ideas on how to incorporate more curriculum documentation by creating a space to share classroom reflections and newsletters at a later date.
Plans and possibilities are the potential
curriculum threads that you will work on
during the month based on our emergent
curriculum model. These plans should be
diverse in skill development and be able
to be differentiated based on student needs.
Due by the first of the month.

Even though the intention is that seasoned educators would be using this app to submit them curriculum planning and documentation I still believed that it is important to include an “About” section as a way to reiterate why this process is important.
The Curriculum Documentation and Connection part of the app is the opportunity for teachers to provide explanation and reflection of what was enacted during the month. This includes the activities that were completed, materials that were added and other ways interests were supported and facilitated.
This section also gives the ability to connect the skills to the early learning standards for the appropriate age groups.
As educators who strive to meet the needs of the learners where they are we have adapted to focusing on an emergent curriculum model.
This model allows us to incorporate important skill building with our learners in their areas of interest. Emergent curriculum means that we may make plans to develop specific curriculum threads but there is a possibility that student interest will lead us down a different path.
While we maintain the practice of emergent curriculum we still practice curriculum planning within our teaching teams and our center to support well-rounded and enriching learning experiences for our learners.
The forms in the next two pages will help you to document your plans and possibilities of curriculum for the month as well as the curriculum you enacted during the month.
This provides an opportunity for reflection growth as educators as well as teaching teams.
Let’s learn together!
The Plans and Possibilities section of the app is designated as a space for educators to put in the possible themes they will build on during the month that is driven by student interest. The fields are basic because the planning process revolves around student-led interests and can change.
The last addition to the app was including a confirmation screen for submission. This was an important feature that I didn’t want to overlook because I believe it holds importance in ensuring that each submission was received.
Curriculum Documentation is a way to reflect on the curriculum that you enacted for the month. You will connect the reflections you created to document your curriculum and also provide a description of activities and environmental changes that you made to incorporate your curriculum. Your enacted curriculum will also be connected to the Early Learning Standards it supports.
Due by the end of the month.
